Quarter Pony Awards

ANNUAL AWARDS are formulated from the number of points earned by an individual QPAA registered horse, Amateur Owner or Junior Member (Youth) who nominate for each year.

 

Nomination forms must be submitted, and the applicable fee/s paid before points can be awarded.

 

Awards are available for a wide range of Equestrian events and competitions that you may compete in.

We would like to encourage our members and their registered ponies who participate in some of the following activities to nominate for our Annual Awards and Register of Merit. 

Awards may include but are not limited to the below categories - if you nominate for awards just send in results and the Points Officer will sort them from there, no need to select a category/s.

Open Show Ring Competition – Led & Ridden

Barrel Racing

Sporting

Showjumping

Eventing

Dressage

Working Equitation

Western Performance

Pony Club or Riding Club

Camprafting

Cutting

Reining

In hand Performance

QUARTER PONY AWARDS are divided into 2 categories:

Quarter Pony category – this is for Quarter Pony only classes (classes at shows or events that only registered Quarter Ponies may enter ie; Mare 4 years & Over, Best Presented Quarter Pony, Ridden Quarter Pony, Bridle Path Hack etc)

Open category – this means the class, event etc is open to any horse or pony regardless of breed or registration ie; led or ridden classes at open hack shows, western shows, showjumping, open sporting, pony club or adult rider groups, campdrafting, barrel racing etc.

AMATEUR OWNER AWRDS:

A/O awards are for financial QPAA members that compete with a registered horse or horses in their name, in the case of multiple ownership a nominated A/O handler/rider must be stated.

Amateur classes attract points in Halter and Ridden categories; a separate show result sheet is required for submission to receive A/O points.

An A/O may compete more than one horse but cannot compete 2 horses in the same A/O class or event.

Points attained are allocated to the A/O member, not the horse/s.

Amateur Owner awards are divided into 2 categories for handlers and riders that hold a current QPAA A/O card:

QPAA Amateur Owner – for handlers or riders who compete in Quarter Pony specific A/O classes.

Open Amateur Owner – for handlers and riders who enter an A/O class open to any person holding an A/O card.

YOUTH AWARDS:

Points for Youth Awards are eligible where a program states specific events in age groups.

Results for Youth class results - a separate show result sheet is required for submission to receive Youth points.

Youth awards for Junior members are divided into 2 categories for handlers and riders that hold a current QPAA Youth card. QPAA Youth – for handlers or riders who compete in Quarter Pony specific Youth classes, ie; Youth Handler, Youth Bridle Path Hack etc.

Open Youth – for handlers and riders who enter any Youth class open to any Youth, eg: Youth Showmanship, Youth Rider etc.

NON-COMPETITIVE AWARDS: For members who wish to nominate for Hi- Point Awards but do not wish to formally compete in competitions.

Events may include training days, clinics etc. Please fill in the results record sheet and a copy of the event/clinic/ training day attended to claim points for the non-competitive awards category.

 

OUR POINT SCORE SYSTEM FOR ANNUAL AWARDS REGARDLESS OF NUMBERS IN CLASS:

1 st - 7 Points, 2nd - 6 Points, 3rd - 5 Points, 4th - 4 Points, 5th - 3 Points, 6th - 2 Points, DNP – 1 point (DNP - did not place, this is for anyone who entered a class or event but was not in the winning line up - you still record the class or event and receive a point)

Champion 2 Points, Res. Champion 1 Point, Grand Champion or Supreme Champion 3 Points.

R.O.M’S. (REGISTER OF MERIT) The purpose of the Register of Merit (R.O.M.) program is to establish a record of performance for individual QPAA registered horses. The fee for enrolling for the ‘Register of Merit’ is included in your Annual Award nominations fee, your horse will be automatically eligible for R.O.M.s upon receipt of your Annual Award nomination. Points for R.O.M are extracted from the official Results sheets which are used by members when competing for Annual Awards. 

REGISTER OF MERIT – ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: 200 points - halter or ridden categories

REGISTER OF MERIT – EXCELLENCE AWARD: 600 points - halter or ridden categories

REGISTER OF MERIT – SUPERIOR AWARD:  1000 point - halter or ridden categories

HALL OF FAME: A SPECIAL AWARD WILL BE PRESENTED UPON ATTAINING 1,500 POINTS IN EACH CATEGORY
